By purchasing products from Black Matter, by Benjamin Black Limited, the customer agrees to the following terms and conditions of sale.

Payment and Online Security

Benjamin Black is proud to be associated with PayPal, the safer, easier way to pay online. PayPal allows the customer to purchase a product or service without exposing credit card numbers to the merchant.

GST (Goods and Services Tax)

For New Zealand delivery addresses, all prices are New Zealand GST (Goods and Services Tax at 15%) inclusive unless otherwise stated.  If your order ships to a delivery address outside New Zealand, no GST will be charged.

We are unable to send orders to a PO Box address.

All orders dispatched to an address within New Zealand are delivered door to door and may require a signature upon delivery.  Track and Trace is standard for all orders dispatched to an address within New Zealand.

International Orders

Benjamin Black offers free international shipping on all orders, therefore there will be no shipping costs incurred to the customer.

All orders shipped outside of New Zealand are sent International Airmail.  International orders are sent at the purchaser's own risk.  If the international shipping conditions do not meet your requirements, please contact us.

Customs & Duties

For any orders shipped to an address outside of New Zealand the customer is the importer of record and will be responsible for all customs import duties and local sales tax charges. These charges vary in each country and are outside of Benjamin Black’s control.  Contact your local customs office for more information on what import duties or sales taxes may be imposed.

Delivery Estimates

All orders sent within New Zealand are targeted for delivery between 3 and 5 working days.  Orders shipped outside of New Zealand will normally take up to 10 working days.

Benjamin Black makes every effort practical to ensure that delivery timeframes given are accurate.  However the delivery times stated assume that there are no unforeseen events. By placing an order, you agree not to hold Benjamin Black liable for any loss or damage directly or indirectly arising out of or in connection with any delay or failure to deliver within the estimated time frame.


If an order/s is found to be incorrectly addressed by Benjamin Black then Benjamin Black will be responsible for the re-delivery, replacement or refunding of the item(s).  If the customer is found to have given an incorrect or insufficient address, then Benjamin Black will not refund or resend the product and all responsibility for correcting delivery will be borne by the customer.

Returns Policy

If you are not satisfied with the items you have ordered, please email us and let us know the reasons for your dissatisfaction.  If you return your order to us within ten days of receipt, unused, with the goods undamaged and in their original packaging, we will be happy to offer a full refund or exchange the goods for other items.

Please Note:

We will only accept goods returned with prior notification through correspondence with our sales team.

We cannot guarantee that we will be willing to accept the item for return or exchange if you do not contact us via email within ten days of receiving your goods.

All returned goods must be sent to Benjamin Black Goldsmiths Ltd.

The original invoice/receipt must accompany the returned item.

We can only accept items returned if they are within their original packaging.

Courier/airmail and/or credit card charges will not be refunded.

We will not refund your return courier/airmail costs.

We strongly advise all customers to check goods thoroughly upon delivery.

Receiving a Refund

Once your order has been returned to us within the above stated time frame, unless otherwise authorised by the Directors at Benjamin Black, we will begin to process your

refund request. Each item will undergo a quality control check and once verified, your refund

will be processed in the original payment format as your purchase was made within 30 days of the date of cancellation notice.  All undamaged, correctly returned products will be credited to the original purchaser’s bank account, including GST where applicable.  You will be notified via email to the address listed on your account when the transaction has taken place.  Please note that your bank institution may require additional days to process and post the transaction to your account once they have received the information from Benjamin Black.

Only items which Benjamin Black can confirm as new and unused will be eligible for a refund or exchange, so that they have reached our returns department within the time frame outlined above, unless otherwise arranged with and agreed to by Benjamin Black.  If we receive your return in a condition which we feel is not fit for exchange or refund we shall get in touch with you to discuss next steps.  Benjamin Black reserves the right to refuse a return or exchange for any item sent back in a condition where the item has been used or damaged.

New Zealand Law

Any goods supplied or sold by Benjamin Black, are sold or supplied under conditions of New Zealand Law.  The Laws of sale and contract by any other country do not apply.

Please Note:

Where the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 apply, these terms will be read subject to the application of that Act, and in the case of any conflict, the provisions of that Act will apply.

 The Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply to business customers (where "business" is as defined by the Act).  Business customers agree that where products are purchased for the purpose of a business that the Act does not apply.
